Holy Deodorant.

For as long as I can remember, I have used Dove Original scent deodorant. I thought it was the best! I smelled good, my armpits never got irritated, and it never left white streaks in my underarms!

HOLY CRAP. I was suuuuuuper wrong about how great it is.

I've been reading about how icky and toxic Parfum is (one of the ingredients in this deodorant). 3000 fragrant ingredients are added to most personal care products to mask odors or add a present scent you guys. THREE THOUSAND INGREDIENTS.

Here is what is listed on their website:

Active Ingredient: Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex Gly (15.2%) Inactive Cyclopentasiloxane, Stearyl Alcohol, Isopropyl Palmitate, Ppg-14 Butyl Ether, Talc, Mineral Oil, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Dimethicone, Fragrance (Parfum), Peg-8, Bht

Lets also talk about Mineral Oil.
This is what wikipedia says about mineral oil : The World Health Organization classifies untreated or mildly treated mineral oils as Group 1 carcinogens to humans; highly refined oils are classified as Group 3, meaning they are not suspected to be carcinogenic but available information is not sufficient to classify them as harmless.[4]

WHAT!!!!  A group 1 carcinogen means that its definitely harmful to humans. And that is what I was rubbing all over my armpits everyday (sometimes 2-3 times a day!)  YIKES!

My husband was using spray deodorant and we finally looked up the ingredients online - BUTANE AND PROPANE. You guys. My husband was spraying PROPANE on his armpits (insert dying emoji here*).

So I have leapt over to the clean non-toxic side of deodorant and am now patting my pits down with Copaiba oil from Young Living everyday. (Young Living because I trust their Seed to Seal guarantee that there are no synthetics added). I just ordered their Aromabright toothpaste which I have heard doubles wonderfully for deodorant as well, so I'll let you know how that turns out! ;)

to live is Christ, to die is gain.

The apostle Paul wrote those words in Philippians 1:21...God did some miraculous work thru Paul didn't he!? After Paul saw the light (literally) he traveled to Judea, Syria, Cilicia, Galatia, Pamphylia, Asia, Macedonia, Achaia and Italy. WOW. I've shared God's word....via skype to my bestie Nicole and...uhhh..shoot. What am I doing?! Yikes, I'm so ready to go, to tell of God's glory, to "Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and teaching." (2 Tim. 4:2) Its convicting to know that I really haven't done as much as I could be doing, if I died, I have no doubt I would meet Jesus, my Lord and Savior would know my heart and how much I love Him and my willingness and readiness to share Him with the world..but I also know He will stand before me and say, Look at what you could have had, if only you had come to me sooner, done My work rather than yours. In one of my earlier posts I had writ...

Midnight in Paris

I just stumbled upon these seriously gorgeous photos of Marion Cotillard and had to share! I am now itching to see Midnight in Paris because of its 93% rating from Rotten Tomatoes {and dang it's hard to please them!}. Have you seen it, did you enjoy it? xxoo

Dinner Fail, Dessert Win!

Last nights dinner was supposed to look like this Instead it turned out like this It was a serious fail. The flavor was good, but it looked terrible and took more than twice as long to make as we thought it would. Oh and, it was a bit too crispy. BUT Dessert redeemed me, it was Kiwi Lemon Cheesecake - Yum! The recipe called for lemon curd, and when I saw how expensive it was at the store, I decided to try and make my own! It turned out great, and this was the end result It was not quite as solid as it should have been, but delicious non-the-less! Both of these recipes were from Rachel Ray's Everyday magazine. It was exciting making new things, hopefully next time they turn out a bit better :) xxoo
