We Love Oly.

Mark and I are really loving being in Olympia, surrounded by a ton of our best friends, here are just a few pictures of when we first moved up, getting used to our surroundings (fro-yo, obv) and testing our new grill with delicious kabobs. Mark may or may not have thrown out his back while putting the kabobs together. Ha. Good thing we have an awesome chiropractor. :)

Fill In the Blank Friday!

Happy Friday Friends! I hope you are all great and ready for a sunny weekend!  Mark and I are going kayaking with some friends in the Puget Sound :)  I'm slightly nervous, I've never done it and I'm just hoping I'm strong enough! 1.   The best thing to do on a hot day is     to stay inside somewhere cool.  But lately we've been playing tennis.  Where there is no shade.  It's slightly terrible in 86-90 degrees, but we make it through and love it in the end  . 2.    The best place to be on a hot day is    a lake, pool or river!   . 3.   The best thing to eat on a hot day is      anything with ice!  Iced (now decaf) latte,  slurpee, ice cream...you get it! 4.  Hot days       are never expected here in the NW, but always appreciated . 5.  My go to uniform on a warm summer day is    jean shorts and a tank top.  Or a lig...

The Paris Wife

Just thought I would post my short review of this book that I loved and hated at the same time. My little red eyes are freshly finished with the story, but the tears made finishing the book a bit sweeter. The Paris Wife by Paula McLain My rating: 5 of 5 stars I truly enjoyed reading The Paris Wife, it all felt so happy and real and true. Then suddenly it didn't, and I felt Hadley's true sadness sweep through my heart. I hadn't ever read anything about Hemingway before, and that definitely helped, I had no idea how tragic the book would end.

Pity Party

The last few weeks have been filled with fun adventures with friends, but I know you lovely readers have no idea because I've just been having a pity party over here, not wanting to write about anything until I get pregnant. But that's just silly. I have plenty to share and I'm ready to start being a more regular presence on my blog again. Here are just a few snippets from lately, see you again soon! Getting to know this little girl. Making memories with this hottie.

Quiet & Alone

I sit in the water and I send ripples around me. It reminds me of a beautiful photo I saw of a woman and her newborn baby in a tub full of pink water. I lean back and slip slowly into the water until only my face is above the swaying warmth. I gently shake my head side to side and I feel like a mermaid, my hair is swirling around me. I run my fingers through it to smooth out any tangles and it feels thick and luscious, very well moisturized here under the water. And then I hear my heart beating. Thoughts of laying my head on my husbands chest and listening to his wonderful heart beat fill my mind. I wonder aloud to myself if someday I will hear two heartbeats while laying under the water. I close my eyes and listen only to the drumming of my heart, speeding up slightly with each inhale. I notice the way my chest rises to the top of the water while inhaling, and sinks softly down with the exhale. My hands float over to my tummy, where I hope to house a child soon, and quietly pr...

Busy days.

Sorry I've been so absent from the blogging world lately! My days are full of McKenzie {the 12 week old I've been nannying}, my husband, and spending time with friends. Last week I had two 11 hour shifts with Miss Mac starting at 6 am, which means the alarm goes off at 5! Her sweet smiles and perfect cheeks make up for the early hours at least. Not to mention her 2-3 hour naps! I've also been avoiding writing about trying to get pregnant. We haven't been trying very long, so no big disappointments yet, just a lot of wondering and trying to figure everything out. And so many varying emotions! One thing is for sure, that handsome man of mine is going to be an amazing dad once it happens, and we are so ready for the challenge! I'm kind of begging God for twins. ;) xxoo
