marriage.

So, this seems a bit strange to be blogging about, mostly because, I don't really know the first thing about marriage yet.  I don't know what its going to be like, how we will react to it...I basically just know that I can't wait :)  But I think its actually starting to hit me that in 40 days and 6 hours I will be standing in front of 100 or more people, confessing my undying love to my Mark....and to be honest, it kind of scares the dickens out of me.  First of all, the fact that I have to walk in to a room, where everybody then stands up to stare at me.  Oh my goodness, anyone that  even barely knows me probably knows that I hate the spotlight like that.  People are going to be staring at me!!!!  (WARNING : for those of you attending the wedding, please don't laugh at my face when it instantly turns bright red!).  Secondly, I'm really going to be married.  I tried to explain this thought to Mark the other day, and he laughed at me (go figure!).  Its like, my whole 24 years of singleness led up to this one day, where I change from single to married...and then for the next 70 years, I will be married. Its weird to think about!  Please don't take this the wrong way, I LOVE Mark, I seriously can't get enough of my man.  Every night when its time for bed, and Mark leaves, I just want to keep hugging him so that he can't go...sometimes I even get whiney, I just want to snuggle with my man for hours and hours....I want to see his amazing smile when I wake up in the morning, I can't wait to have someone who will forever be on MY side, through anything!  I'm going to have someone to serve God next to, to lean on when I'm feeling week in my walk with God, someone that loves me unconditionally.  I can't wait to be married.  BUT, thinking about it is still weird :)

Also, I got the impression from a lot of people that reading on marriage truly will help when the rough days come, so Mark and I have been working on reading some books that people have suggested.  The first one was the 5 love languages, which we both got some great ideas from :)  Then I read a book called So Long Insecurity by Beth Moore.  She brought up some good points and I've been trying really hard the last few days to be secure.  Yesterday I had a little problem with it...but for the most part I think the book really is going to help.  The next few books we are reading (already purchased from the store) are Sheet Music and Saving Your Marriage Before it Starts.  We heard about those books from several younger married couples, so we're both excited to read them.  If you have any reading suggestions for us we will gladly get the book!  Feel free to let us know!

Lastly I'll give you a little update on wedding plans!  This week we found someone to make our cake (YAY and YUM!).  We will be going to put in our order today!  Also, I picked up my dress from the store with my good friend Aubri!  It was so much fun, we went and got lunch, drove to Salem and then came home and watched a few hours of Say Yes to the Dress.  Also, we really got our wedding budget sorted out and now we know exactly how much more money we need!  We were both happily surprised that it was less than we thought.  We also did some test painting, figured out the wedding day schedule of events, organized the dress rehearsal dinner, started recruiting people to help with set-up and take down of the wedding, figured out which island on Hawaii we will most likely be staying on, sent out a few last minute invitations and have started prepping for the bridal showers.  Well I started prepping.  Like I said before, me being the spotlight makes me nervous, so I'm practicing my breathing technique and my appreciation for all the hard work everyone else is putting into my wedding.  I can't believe how much work it really is for everyone!  I am seriously thankful, I can't wait to have them!

I hope everyone has a great Monday and a fantastic week!

  1. Glad things are still going great with the wedding planning! I really appreciate that you are aware of how much work people are putting into your wedding. I had to help out with a wedding a while ago where everyone bent over backwards to make the bride happy, with nary a thanks coming from her lips. So an appreciative bride is amazing.

Jesse and I didn't read anything before we got married, so I'm no help there. I think a quick piece of advice I can give you is to continually be thinking of what you can do to make each other happy. There are many passages in the bible talking about a man concerning himself with his wife's happiness, and vice versa. It's important to continue that mindset long after you've gotten married. (1 Corinthians 7 is a good one)

Like, a lot of little things (he still delivers a rose to me on Valentine's day at work, I buy him nerdy toys and comic books occasionally). And, sometimes thinking about making Jesse happy includes doing things that make me happy (like a new hair cut to boost the old self esteem) and that right there is a win-win!

to live is Christ, to die is gain.

The apostle Paul wrote those words in Philippians 1:21...God did some miraculous work thru Paul didn't he!? After Paul saw the light (literally) he traveled to Judea, Syria, Cilicia, Galatia, Pamphylia, Asia, Macedonia, Achaia and Italy. WOW. I've shared God's word....via skype to my bestie Nicole and...uhhh..shoot. What am I doing?! Yikes, I'm so ready to go, to tell of God's glory, to "Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and teaching." (2 Tim. 4:2) Its convicting to know that I really haven't done as much as I could be doing, if I died, I have no doubt I would meet Jesus, my Lord and Savior would know my heart and how much I love Him and my willingness and readiness to share Him with the world..but I also know He will stand before me and say, Look at what you could have had, if only you had come to me sooner, done My work rather than yours. In one of my earlier posts I had writ

What I've been HALFway reading.

Guys. I've started around 512 books over the last few months. I haven't finished any. GAH. Here's just a few - Divergent by Veronica Roth. I'm so excited to actually keep reading this. I loved the movies but feel like the books are ALWAYS better. I haven't read much of this one yet because I feel guilty every time I pick it up. I always feel like I should be reading something that will improve me. I'll finish it some day. Simple Steps to Foot pain Relief by Katy Bowman, MS. I started reading this one for clients who have foot / knee / hip / back / shoulder pain. Basically any pain. I love trying to help my clients more than what they expect, so bits of information I can soak in and pass on are great! Katy Bowman does a great job breaking down the foot and then gives some awesome techniques on things you can do to help your feet. I'm close to done with this one actually, and thats good because it's due back at the library in a few days. Goo

Weekend

This weekend M and I got to go to Portland and spend some time with my sister and her family. She has two little boys and one on the way, so every second has noise/crying/laughter. Joellen and I got to spend some time away (went to the mall) which was a perfect break from chaos. I did get quite a bit of knitting done and was able to post some new stuff up on my Etsy shop ! I also got three custom orders (yay!!). If you see anything on my site you like but are interested in a different size, color or color combos just let me know! Here is a peek of my new product!
